Excerpt from Making Floors
HE Obj ection is Often made that floors constructed of any Of these materials are cold to the feet and are, therefore, undesirable. TO this it may be answered that in rooms where people sit, and nec essarily have their feet in contact with the floor for any length Of time, these materials would, under most circumstances, be thoroughly undesirable, but there are many places in every house where people do not sit and where these materials may be used for floors with perfect propriety and comfort and oftentimes they suit the purpose better than wood.
