Excerpt from Marine Engine Design: Including the Design of Turning and Reversing Engines
It was not the idea in this work to cover in detail the design of every part of the engine, but enough is given in the way of detailed design of the principal parts to indicate the general scope of the problem and to lay down methods by which the entire work can be carried to completion. As given, this represents the results of several years of experience in teach ing the subject of marine engine design to students of the University of Michigan.
