Wynne Wong is Professor of French and Director of French Language Instruction at The Ohio State University, where she oversees French language instruction and graduate teaching associate training. She has published widely in second language acquisition, with particular contributions to research on French, Processing Instruction, structured input, and the relationship between theory, research, and classroom practice. Her article with Bill VanPatten, THE EVIDENCE IS IN: DRILLS ARE OUT (Foreign Language Annals, 2003), received the Stephen A. Freeman Award. Dedicated to building bridges between theory and practice, she is lead author of LIAISONS and ENCORE and author or co-editor of several books, including INPUT ENHANCEMENT: FROM THEORY AND RESEARCH TO THE CLASSROOM (McGraw-Hill, 2005), FOCUSING ON FORM IN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION (with D. Simard, Routledge, 2015), and THE ROUTLEDGE HANDBOOK OF SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AND INPUT PROCESSING (with J. Barcroft, 2024).
Stacey Weber-Fève is Morrill Professor of French and World Film Studies at Iowa State University. She is a specialist of French cinema and has published books and articles on women’s filmmaking, life writing, and cinematic comedy. An award-winning teacher dedicated to "bridging the gap" between "language teachers" and "literature professors," she has also published and presented on the teaching of the French language, culture, literature, and film through integrated approaches and input-to-output processes at all levels of the foreign language curriculum. She is co-author of the textbooks, LIAISONS (Cengage, 2013, 2017, 2020) and ENCORE (Cengage, 2018, 2020). She is also a recipient of ACTFL’s Nelson Brooks award (2015) and Excellence in World Language Instruction Using Technology award (2025) and a recipient of AATF’s Dorothy Ludwig Excellence in Teaching Award (2017).
Bill VanPatten is Professor of Second Language Studies at Michigan State University where he also directs the Spanish and French language programs. An international scholar with numerous awards for research, leadership, and teaching, Professor VanPatten is known not only for his work on theory and research in second language acquisition but also for the implications of second language research for language teaching.
Anne Lair is a Professor/Lecturer of French at the University of Utah, where she directs the French Basic Language Program, and collaborates with the Second Language Teaching and Research Center (L2TReC). She serves as French Bridge Curriculum Director and State French Coordinator. Previously, she was French Dual Language Immersion Coordinator and later Secondary French DLI Coordinator. She has led workshops across Utah and nationwide, earning recognition including the ACTFL Nelson Brooks Award (2012), Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (2017), and AATF Dorothy Ludwig Award (2020). She has published articles on food symbolism in Europe and co-authored Invitation au monde francophone, Liaisons (3rd edition) and Encore. She is President of the Alliance Française of Salt Lake City and Honorary Consul of France in Utah.
