About the Author

<b>Fran Fleegler, M.D.</b>, was educated at the University of Pittsburgh medical school and the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as a clinical associate professor in the medical school. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical oncology and the American College of Sports Medicine, and serves as a clinical advisor for the American Running Association. Dr. Fleegler, who is herself a competitive distance runner, lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she is affiliated with Rocky Mountain Cancer Center.<br><br><b>John Hanc</b> is a writer specializing in active sports and fitness. A columnist and contributing writer to <i>Newsday</i> and a frequent contributor to <i>Runner’s World </i>magazine, Hanc has written four previous books, including <i>The Essential Runner</i> and <i>Running for Dummies</i>, which he co-authored with the late Florence Griffith Joyner.
