La Loupe French Readers will help to bring (reading) this often ignored aspect of language learning into the realms of students' experience. In reading about their favourite actors, football teams or interests, pupils will be helped to overcome the lack of relevance they often associate with reading in a foreign language. These books should encourage pupils to read French both in class and at home, and help to give them a sense of confidence which a course book alone cannot supply. (C McInnes, TES 2001-06-01)
"La Loupe" is a series of 18 French readers written specifically for pupils, in order to motivate and inspire them to read French books for pleasure. The series has three difficulty levels - the levels are clearly colour coded - in order to be accessible to all Key Stage 3 and 4 learners of French. This gives all pupils the opportunity to read for personal interest and enjoyment as the National Curriculum requires. The full series offers pupils the chance to read about topics they find interesting and exciting. The three levels give the teacher greater flexibility and allow pupils to progress at their own pace. The series is accompanied by a Teacher's Book which contains one worksheet, aimed at the corresponding level, per book.
