About the Author

The Editors

Jenny Shaw who lectures in Sociology at the University of Sussex and Diane Perrons who lectures in Economics at London Guildhall met through the friendship of their children in a creche. Since then they have each struggled with the vicissitudes of full time jobs and family life, of teaching students interested in women, work and equal opportunities and research in the fields of work, gender, time and Europe. In producing this book they have sought to provide a practical and sharply focused text on gender relevant to a rapidly changing workplace.
