Synopsis
Each "Macmillan Dossier" offers a range of language styles, subject matter and visual impact. These include short stories, in-depth articles and interviews, interspersed with maps, cartoons and fact-files. Each page has its own "vocabulary box"; the action section of each Dossier is always on pages 30 and 31, with the Background Notes appearing on page 32. The Background Notes provide cultural and social references for the teacher. The books are designed for maximum ease of comprehension, each Dossier is suited for either home or school use, giving teachers and students the variety of a magazine as well as the educational value of a traditional reader. The cassettes are recorded to reinforce the magazine concept and thus help bring the texts to life. "USA" looks at the American nation.
