Synopsis

It provides an introduction to some of the main problem areas of philosophy by paying special attention to the works of philosophers, past and present. The solutions offered by philosophers are examined critically and the book concludes with a discussion of social and political issues, showing how the techniques of philosophy can clarify such issues.
