Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. States "First Published 1977 by Macmillan London Limited." Pastedowns show some damage where the jacket flaps were once taped down, but jacket itself must have been in an earlier plastic protector, since this price-clipped jacket remains "near fine." Stamped "Cambridge Public Library / Galt Branch" to the copyright page. There's a half-hearted red stripe from a felt-tip to top page edges near the spine, similar to a "remainder" mark. And something -- a date-due slip? -- has been removed from the blank FFE. Considerable shelf rub to bottom page edges, and the spine is slanted about 3/8ths inch (1 cm.) Page edges and the remainder of this complete book otherwise blessedly free of stampings, cross-outs, or other lending-library attachments. An Inspector Morse mystery -- the author's third novel and evidently this British first is the hardest to find in collectible condition. John Thaw played the Morse character in the television series (1987-2000.) 254 pp., here reduced from $400. Seller Inventory # 010747
