Louis XIV. Of France. His father, grandfather and great grandfather were practicing physicians. He was Interne of the hospital at Limoges Externe of Paris hospitals in 1873; was preparer at the College of France Received his degree as M.D., 1877, and was awarded the prize of the Faculty. Made a specialty of la physique biologique and became Director of the Laboratory of the College of France, from the time it was founded, 1887; at the same time was named Professor; was elected Member of the Academy of Medicine, 1888. He was awarded, in 1889, the Montyon prize by the Institute of France (experimental Physiology). In 1893 he received the La Caze prize (physiology). He was for several years vice-president of the Biological Society, and in 1893 President of the French Society of electro-therapeutics. Since 1 894 is vice-president of the National Society of Electricians. Dr. D'arsonval was elected Member of the Institute of France in 1894.
