Excerpt from Grace Book Gamma: Containing The Records Of The University Of Cambridge For The Years 1501-1542
There is in consequence very little in this volume which cannot be learned from the Index. This is divided into three parts Index I contains the names of the persons who are recorded in the body of the book in the graces for degrees and dispensations or who are otherwise mentioned Index II has the references pertaining solely to the University Index III has the notices of a general character.
The three long and interesting Introductions to the Grace Books A and B arose naturally from the very numerous notices of matters of the most varied kind; the much more, indeed almost entirely, uniform character of the entries in Grace Book I' render a lengthened Introduction unnecessary.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This text comprises the first portion of a volume of ceremonial graces from the University of Cambridge. The document records the decisions reached by the University's administrative body, from 1501 through to 1541, on matters ranging from degrees and dispensations, to the granting of licenses. Unlike the numerous other books in the Grace Book series, this work does not feature the regular entries on expenditures, cautio, and so forth. Instead, it focuses primarily on graces addressing the day-to-day running of the institution. As such, it does not follow a strict narrative structure, with its contents divided into short entries detailing the proposed motion and the decision. This lack of narrative makes the volume of interest solely to a select body of academics, those with a deep interest in the governance of the University of Cambridge in the Tudor period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9780332323367_0
