The procedures described in this publication are those used at the National Bureau of Standards in the analysis of white cast iron standard reference materials for the ten (10) major elements; namely, carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, nickel, chromium, vanadium, and molybdenum. Carbon and sulfur are determined by combustion; manganese, chromium and vanadium by titrimetry.
