We know, therefore, that in order to perpetuate any delu sion it is only necessary that we select the proper impressible subjects, keep them in a passive state, stamp the delusion on their minds and keep it there until it has taken firm hold, and become a second nature. Then you will see your wretched dupe exulting in the posession of truth, and resenting with indignation the idea, that he has been made an instrument by designing men.
