Excerpt from An Infinite System of Linear Equations Arising in Diffraction Theory
An infinite system of linear equations is investigated which arises in the theory of diffraction by a circular aperture. The coefficients of this system depend on a parameter a. It is proved that the solution of the system can be found to any degree of approximation by solving the first N equations for the first N unknowns, for N sufficiently large.
