STEPHEN CARY, a second language learner specialist, has worked as a counselor, teacher, resource teacher, and administrator. Dr. Cary consults in school districts in California and throughout the U.S., and serves as adjunct faculty in the University of San Francisco's Teaching English as a Second Language and Teacher Education Programs. He is the author of Working with Second Language Learners: Answers to Teachers' Top Ten Questions (Heinemann). In addition to his Heinemann book, Cary has published a number of other books and instructional materials for teachers working with second language learners. As a consultant, Cary offers a variety of workshops, in-class demonstration activities, teacher coaching, and program planning and evaluation services. His other work includes parent education and involvement programs, Spanish language programs for teachers, family/community oral history projects, and teacher training institutes on peer coaching, CLAD (Cross-cultural
