Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish: Feed Regulation, Metabolism and Digestion is a solid reference on the most recent advances and fundamental subjects in nutrient metabolism, intestinal transport and physiology of taste in fish. The book covers the known nutrient requirements and deficiency effects for different fish, along with information on the digestion and metabolism of nutrients and energy. It discusses nutrient sources and preparation of practical and research feeds and provides directions for conducting fish nutrition and feeding experiments. Other sections address current topics of interest to researchers and nutritionists in aquaculture research and the feed and allied industry.
Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish: Feed Regulation, Metabolism and Digestion is written by an international group of experts and contains fresh approaches of both classical and modern concepts of animal nutrition. All chapters clearly provide the essential literature related to the principles of fish nutrition and physiology that will be useful for academic researchers, those working professionally in aquaculture industries, and for graduate level students and researchers.

Vikas Kumar is an assistant professor of fish nutrition and nutrigenomics at the University of Idaho in the United States. He has more than a decade of research in aquaculture and nutritional biochemistry, fish nutrition, nutritional physiology, gut health, and feed processing, formulation, and nutrigenomics approaches to enhancing aquaculture production. He currently serves as an editorial board member of Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group) and as leading associate editor for the Animal Feed Science and Technology (Elsevier) and the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society (Wiley).
Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish:: Feed Regulation, Metabolism, and Digestion presents the most recent advances and fundamental subjects in nutrient metabolism, intestinal transport, and physiology of taste in fish. It covers the known nutrient requirements and deficiency effects for different fishes, and digestion and metabolism of nutrients and energy. It discusses nutrient sources and preparation of practical and research feeds as well as provides directions for conducting fish nutrition and feeding experiments. This book addresses current topics of interest to researchers and nutritionists in aquaculture research, the feed, and allied industries. Fresh approaches for both classical and modern concepts of animal nutrition are emphasized throughout the book and will be useful to readers in various biological disciplines to integrate biochemistry and physiology with nutrition, health, and disease in fish and crustaceans.
Nutrition and Physiology of Fish and Shellfish:: Feed Regulation, Metabolism, and Digestion is an excellent reference for professionals and a comprehensive textbook for senior undergraduate and graduate students in aquaculture, fish nutrition and physiology, animal science, biochemistry, biology, food science, and nutrition.
