This first edition has boards bound in yellow cloth with straight edges and pointed corners. Spine is uncreased with straight edges. Text block is square. Binding is tight. Textured orange end pages are clean with previous owners name present on upper end of front fly leaf in black ink dated 1980. Interior has a couple small foxed spots but otherwise remains unmarked with crisp white pages filled with colored illustrations through out. Dust Jacket is unclipped but vibrant cover illustration. Leo and Diane Dillon are among America's most admired illustrators, They have won the Caldecott Medal twice - Ashanti to Zulu and Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears. Yellow cloth covered boards are clean and bright. Impressed with a gilded illustration of the sun and gilding on the spine are bright and shiny. Light shelf wear to edges of boards. Binding tight. Illustrated DJ is still colorful and overall complete & unmarred. However, white background shows soiling; a few chips and rubbing throughout. DJ is NOT price clipped. See pictures Interior pages are bright and clean. No creases, tears or writing except for a delicately written date and name on FEP. DJ in new mylar jacket. Unusual to find a children's book that is over 46+ years old in such fine condition. Note: We use "Fine" book condition judiciously; a Fine book is when the book approaches 'As New' condition and may not have been previously owned.
