About the Author

BRANT HOUSTON is Executive Director of Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. and the National Institute of Computer-Assisted Reporting and served as associate professor at the University of Missouri School of Journalism for twelve years. He currently serves as the Knight Chair in Investigative & Enterprise Reporting at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he teaches investigative reporting. He was database editor at the Hartford Courant and an investigative reporter at the Kansas City Star. Houston is also a co-author of Computer-Assisted Reporting (Bedford St. Martin’s, 2004), now in its third edition.
