Synopsis
Disillusioned by his marriage, devastated by the death of his sister, and upset by the vandals threatening his security, Stephen, a young Dubliner, decides to build a new life for himself in New York, where he becomes embroiled in a love affair with an older woman, Holfy, and is faced with a difficult choice between his new world and his former one. About the Author
Born and raised in Dublin, Martin Roper received an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa. He teaches writing at the University of Iowa’s Irish Writing Program at Trinity College, Dublin, and at University College, Dublin. Gone is his first novel, a portion of which appeared in The New Yorker.
