Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 273 pages. Published in 2008. The author's breakthrough debut memoir-cum-humor account. One of the most sensational literary debuts of our time. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Rick Lax's "Lawyer Boy". NOT for would-be lawyers alone. The humorous and touching story of an American youth who lives up to his surname by inclination and transcends it with imagination. "After college, Rick Lax moved back into his parents' house. The closest thing he had to a job was eating his parents' food, sitting on his parents' couch, and watching 'The Price is Right'. An amateur magician, he spent the rest of his time practicing card tricks and rope tricks. And though he could tie four different slipknots, the necktie posed some difficulties. Rick's father, a successful Michigan attorney, told Rick it was time to move out and enter the real world. Rick certainly wasn't going to get a job. So he went to law school instead. This is the story of Rick's journey from childhood to lawyerhood. Rick Lax uses the skills he developed as a magician to succeed in class, and learns how to become a lawyer without becoming his father. His journey through law school was exhausting, exciting, and infuriating, and, the way he tells it, so funny it's criminal" (Publisher's blurb). It is a mistake to compare Lax's book to Scott Turow's grim classic, "One L". Surely, the whole point of his memoir is precisely to present a counter-portrait to Turow's harrowing - and humorless - account. Rick Lax is a global Internet entertainer/star today, drawing one billion views each month. An absolute "must-have" title for Rick Lax collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed and inscribed in black pen-marker on the title page by the author: "Thanks for picking my book up, Rick Lax". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary classic. As far as we know, this is only such signed and inscribed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A scarce signed copy thus. One of the most brilliant American writer/entertainers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER COPY OF THIS TITLE IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 031237335X. Signed by Author.
