Synopsis
The first truly comprehensive account of all German fortifications and defence systems of the World War II era, supplemented by scores of remarkable technical drawings The Atlantic Wall is, perhaps, the most famous German World War II era fortification line in Europe but, in fact, Germany build fortified defensive lines throughout the entire war - from the coastal defences along the English Channel to the famous West Wall and the hurriedly-build East Wall. As a result, forts, bunkers, and defensive lines are found - many half-built due to Hitler's vacillating enthusiasm for defence - throughout the territory occupied by Hitler's forces. Fortress Third Reich is the first and only comprehensive treatment of Germany's World War II fortifications, as well as other important defensive systems. The book includes a wealth of drawings, including over 100 technical drawings, with numerous cutaway illustrations. It also features new findings on German fortifications based on the author's on-site research.

About the Author
J.E. Kaufmann is the author of five books on fortifications: Hitler's Blitzkrieg Campaigns, Sleeping Giant: US Armed Forces Between World Wars, Maginot Imitations, The Maginot Line, and Medieval Fortress. H.W. Kaufmann teaches at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Robert M. Jurga is an engineer and technical illustrator living in Poland. His technical drawings are found in countless publications throughout Europe.
