The first book on an innovative artist who uses modified typewriters to create abstract and colorful bookworks and paintings Raffaella della Olga (b. 1967) is an artist who draws on traditions of abstraction, visual poetry, minimalism, and conceptual art. Using modified typewriters, della Olga creates typescripts on materials such as tracing paper, carbon paper, sandpaper, and foil paper that blur the distinction between typed writing and drawing. Her works include books, typewritten paintings, and cut fabric works. This book is to the first to document della Olga's singular studio process. The book's essays and interview with the artist discuss the history of artistic use of the typewriter, della Olga's interest in sound and notation, and an analysis of her work in the context of experimental printmaking.
