Pierre Jean Capretz is an educator and writer. He began teaching French in 1949 and joined the faculty of Yale in 1956, ultimately becoming the Director of the Language Laboratory at the school and then Director of the Language Development Studio. He is best known as the creator and host of the PBS television series French in Action. He was made Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa by Middlebury College in 1993.
