Synopsis
In this first critical biography, Chet Flippo charts the career of Paul McCartney - a founder member of the Beatles, one of the most popular groups of all time, he has remained a phenomenal success despite their break-up. Born to working class parents in Liverpool, McCartney is now one of the wealthiest men in Britain. Flippo looks at his career from the Silver Beatles' early beginnings in Liverpool, their discovery by Brian Epstein and then by the nation and the world, and the years of success that were cut short by rifts and the final break-up. McCartney's post-Beatle career, his success with Wings, and his collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson are also described. Chet Flippo has, among other discoveries, found the true story behind the "Paul is dead" stunt in the late 1960s; his marriage to Linda Eastman and the lucrative association with her powerful family; the splintering of his relationship with John Lennon and his ongoing feud with Yoko Ono. Chet Flippo, is a former editor at "Rolling Stone" and has published a number of books on rock performers including "David Bowie's Serious Moonlight" and "On The Road With The Rolling Stones".
