In the second edition the Appendix was enlarged by in cluding a series of one hundred Examples to be worked by the aid of Logarithmic Tables; in the present edition fifty more examples have been added to this section. Each Exercise has been carefully graduated, beginning with a few easy, straight forward examples, and leading up to others which require some thought and ingenuity besides the mere accurate manipulation of the Tables. It is hoped that by working through this section, a student will be enabled not only to master the preliminary dificulties of logarithmic calculation, but also to acquire some facility ln dealing with a class of questions of growing importance in many Examinations.
