IN preparing this revision of my Elements of Geology, my endeavor has been, while retaining the general plan, to make such changes and additions as were rendered necessary by the rapid ad vance of geological science, especially in this country.
In Part I. The most important changes are the addition of Croll's and Thomson's theories of glacier motion, and some modifications of statement concerning the origin of the Peninsula of Florida.
