A part quelques citations dispersées dans le Glossaire de Du Cange et dans celui de Roquefort, on ne con naissait encore, en 4827, du poète aux nombreuses compositions duquel sont consacrés les deux volumes suivants, que l'analyse de deux pièces, donnée par Le Grand d'aussy dans son Recueil de fabliaux, un petit fragment du dit de la Fourmi, recueilli par M. Robert dans ses Fables inédites, et deux fabliaux, savoir le Sentier battu (imprimé par Barbazan, àla suite de l'ordene de Chevalerie, Lausanne et Paris, 4759, pp. 468 - 4 77, et reproduit par Méon, dans ses Fabliaux et Contes, t. I, pp. 4004 et le dit du Clerc qui fu trouvez derier l'esering (publié par Méon, dans ses Nou veaux fabliaux t. Pp. Le nom de Jean de Condé est passe sous silence par les bibliographes qui s'occupent des anciens poètes français, comme Fauchet, Duverdier, La Croix du Maine, etc., et Roquefort lui même, dans son État de la poésie française au xu° et xm° siècle, n'a pas trouvé occasion d'en faire la moindre mention.
