Agli insegnanti appartengono cinque orti minuscoli, chiusi nel muro di cinta del cortile, e coltivati dal bi dello, che tien per se i legumi e da al primo piano le fragole e i fiori. Questa piccola famiglia scolastica, non visitata che rare volte dall'ispettore.
