The Germans pronounce each letter in every word: but all the rules of pronunciation, to gether with those respecting the tone and ac cent, will appear very imperfect to those who are quite strangers to the German language; and therefore, in this, as in all other languages, we shall sooner acquire the pronunciation by at tending to any one, who pronounces well, than by any rules that can be laid down.
