Synopsis

Excerpt from Hegel's First Principle: An Exposition of Comprehension and Idea (Begriff Und Idee); Translated From the German

Note by Translator. - ~by the Objective Logic we have arrived at the Adequate form of True Being, and this is the self-determined - causa sui. Now we come to consider it; and we find it as the process of subsumption of itself under itself. At first this is merely formal, for the reason that it subsumes itself only frag mentarily under its Infinite form. Gradually, however, it comes to subsume itself as a Totality, and when it reaches this goal it is the idea.

The Comprehension is the adequate form of True Being, i. E. It is a total ity, and this must be kept in mind constantly in order to understand the dialecti cal movement ih the Judgment and Syllogism.
