With regard to the arrangement the author has not thought it advisable to follow strictly any of the numerous systems, that are adopted with more or less success He has taken it for granted, that all who use this work, will know from their 'own language, the leading grammatical definitions and rules, and has therefore omitted them. He considers it most natural, that the pupil begin with the sounds 'of the language, the rules for which are given in the first eleven pages, carefully attending to the Exercises given page 74 to 78.
