Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the impact of the Soil Bank Program on the economy of Coos County, New Hampshire, from 1956 to 1959. By enrolling in the Soil Bank Program, landowners agreed to take specific acreages out of production for soil conservation, aligning with national efforts to reduce agricultural production and promote conservation. The author compares the incomes farmers would have received had there been no program to incomes received with the program. The author also considers non-participating farmer costs and the shifting land use patterns that resulted from the program. This book demonstrates the program's effects on agricultural production and land conservation and is a valuable resource for policymakers, farmers, and anyone interested in the interplay between agriculture and conservation.
