Sa collection est moins célèbre, sa physionomie moins en évidence que celle de Mazarin; il n'a pas eu la bonne for tune de rencontrer un marquis de Laborde pour écrire son histoire, ni un duc d'aumale pour pu blier son inventaire; mais sa place n'en est pas moins la première. Mazarin est son élève, comme Colbert est l'élève de Mazarin; Richelieu les a précédés et leur a montré le chemin.
