Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book recounts a brave chapter in humanitarian history, taking the reader through the events of a besieged Armenian city in 1915. When the Armenians of Van found themselves under attack, the local missionaries â" the author being one of them â" found themselves in the difficult and dangerous position of arbitrating between the forces of a revolting people and the Ottoman government. In vivid detail, the author describes organizing food distribution, providing medical care, and negotiating with government and rebel forces alike, all while ensuring their missionary compound became a safe haven for thousands of refugees, including over a thousand Turkish refugees. Their actions and the stories of the people they saved are testaments to the strength of the humanitarian spirit and the power of courage in the face of danger. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
