Excerpt from Shooting and Fishing Trips
The contents of the present volume are taken from, and, in fact, form but a slightly abridged edition of, my Shooting and Fishing Trips in England, France, Alsace, Belgium, Holland, and Bavaria, which were published, in two volumes, in the autumn of 1876. That edition having been speedily exhausted, it was thought desirable to bring out another, in a cheaper form; hence the book which I have now the pleasure of introducing to the sporting public.
Originally, all the chapters herein contained appeared in the form of articles, contributed by me under my two well-known noms de plume, in Bell's se in London, T/ze S porting Gazette, and Tile County; and I take this fresh opportunity of cordially thanking the proprietors and editors of those papers.
