This is very much an introductory guide to project management. It was written for someone who has a project to run, but is not quite sure how to go about it.

I wrote it to be straightforward and practical - but it really works! The sort of person I had in mind when writing it was either a professional manager who has lots of experience, but has not been responsible for a project before - or someone delivering a project in their private life, such as renovating a house, who wants a process to help them get through the work. It is, as the title implies, a step-by-step guide, walking you through the whole lifecycle of a project. It will also be interesting to anyone who wants to train people in a simple but effective project management approach. It is probably less relevant to professional project managers, unless you are at the very start of your career.
