This is aimed at directors and managers of small and medium sized enterprises, at credit controllers and financial controllers in larger organizations and at accountants, lawyers and insolvency practitioners advising those dealing with companies in distress. The book discusses what distress signals to look for, the steps to take if it seems the end of the line has been reached, how you should protect your own business and legislative procedures which affect the creditor. It gives hints on how to influence proceedings to get them to go in your favour and how they can recover amounts owing as well as details on changes in trading arrangements to protect risks. This book should arm creditors with all the information they need to deal with companies in distress. By following the advice given, companies should be able to prepare themselves better for dealing with a doubtful debtor or if they have been hit by a bad debt they will understand how they can recover amounts due. Vivienne Young is freelance journalist having worked for the Daily Telegraph and BBC Radio.
