Synopsis
This is a source of information and guidance for health and safety practitioners and those studying for a wide range of professional institute examinations. The book covers effective prevention, the working environment, occupational health and application of health and safety management, law, accident hygiene, human behaviour and safety technology. This edition incorporates the national syllabus of the National Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) and legislative changes for the control of hazardous substances, noise, asbestos and electricity. The first section of the book outlines the legal aspects of health and safety at work, but the principal emphasis of the rest of the book is on the practical considerations for enduring a safe and healthy workplace, including reference to occupational health practice and the problem of stress. Jeremy Stranks has had over forty years experience in occupational health and safety, initially as an enforcement officer in local government and, more recently, as Chief Health and Safety Adviser to the Milk Marketing Board and its commercial subsidiary, Dairy Crest Limited.
He is currently a consultant, trainer, author and expert witness in this field. He is the author of many books, including the Health and Safety Law.
