The mathematical investigations have, in all cases, been rendered as simple as possible, and have been developed so as to direct attention to the physical aspect of the subject. No knowledge of the Calculus is assumed on the part of the student. A number of illustrative experiments which may readily be performed are fully described, and numerous questions, mostly selected from public examination papers, are appended.
