Excerpt from Two Generations in Perspective: Notable Events and Trends, 1896-1956
As its title indicates, this book is a survey, from many points of view, of the most meaningful developments in Jewish life, in the United States and abroad, during the past six decades, the most eventful, the most tragic, and yet, in some ways the most hopeful in Jewish history.
The book opens with a comprehensive historical survey of Jewish life, especially in America and in Palestine, and later in Israel, during the past sixty years. This survey is followed by several other chapters of a background character, such as those dealing with Zionism in the United States and in other countries, and a chapter tracing the development of community organiza tions in the United States.
