It may be added, that there can be no better intro duction to the study of English law than the speeches of the Attic orators. These, indeed, cannot be fully appreciated without some general acquaintance with the principles of our own legal practice. And perhaps some at least of those students who have laid a good foundation on a knowledge of the Greek Orators gained at School and College, will not rest satisfied without acquiring some further knowledge of Roman and English jurisprudence, even if legal practice is not their object in life. Of what use, asks Mr Kennedy', can it be to an English gentleman to cram his head with the terms of Attic process, when he is utterly ignorant of that of his own country? It is only by some acquaintance with the latter that he is competent to understand the former.
