Remarquons en outre que la vitesse et la direction des courants aériens changent avec la hauteur, circonstance qu'on peut utiliser pour augmenter la vitesse de marche et même pour aborder, quand la vitesse est inférieure à celle du vent, des points dont l'accès serait interdit avec un courant unique. Dans ces conditions, on voit que la vitesse de il m est très généralement suffisante. Avec une vi tesse de 20 m on pourrait se diriger à son gré, sauf par les vents assez violents pour endommager les toitures. J'ajoute que l'aéro naute, emporté par les courants aériens avec leur propre vitesse, ne s'aperçoit de l'ouragan que par la rapidité avec laquelle la terre est entraînée sous ses pieds.
