Excerpt from El Maghreb: Miles Ride Through Morocco
I obtained the skeleton of my map from the French War Map of 1848, which, though inaccurate in many particulars, as was only to be expected in a work compiled in a large measure from native information (wazan and the adjacent districts had not then been visited by Europeans), remains still the most trustworthy map of the country. The details are from personal observation, with certain additions. Collated from the works of Dr. Rohlfs, Sir J. Hooker, and others.
The substance of the first chapter appeared in Blackwood's Magazine, and is now republished by the kind permission of Messrs. Blackwood.
