It is assumed that, before taking up this reader, the learner has mastered the elements of French grammar, includ ing the most important irregular verbs. Without this indis ~pensable foundation but little real progress can be made in reading a foreign language. We have added, however, for the convenience of the student, a table of irregular verbs found in this reader.
