In production of jute and kenaf in the world's major producing countries of Bangladesh, India, and Thailand is estimated to have totaled metric tons, slightly above the revised outturn of tons. The gain in production was largely due to an increase in area harvested. The outlook for is for a drop of approximately 18 percent to tons because of increased carryover stocks, weakened international demand, and greater profit expected from alternative cr0ps.
