Pour gradually one quart boiling water on one pint flour, stir to keep smooth, when cool, add one cake Fleisch mann's compressed yeast dissolved in one-half cup water, let stand until very light, then add flour to make a stiff Sponge, with one teaspoon salt; as soon as Sponge rises it is ready for kneading, and after being worked until it does not stick to the hands it is of proper consistency.
