Excerpt from La Correction Paternelle Et l'École de Réforme: Étude Critique
Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the urgent need for protecting children against abuse and neglect. In the late 19th century, France recognized that children from families with unworthy parents needed protection. This led to the creation of the law of July 24th, 1889, which outlined circumstances under which the state may intervene. However, the law had limitations, and there was a particular need for more serious consequences for those who abused their children. The law of April 19th, 1898 aimed to address these issues and establish more severe penalties. The book also reviews the broader historical and literary context of protecting children, offering the reader insights into a significant era of social reform and legal transformation and highlighting the importance of understanding the depth and breadth of the problem of child abuse and neglect.
