Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book tracks the global cotton supply from 1948, examining how it has changed and grown over the years, focusing particularly on the postwar era. The author provides a detailed account of the factors influencing cotton production and trade, including acreage restrictions, weather conditions, labor shortages, and political instability. The book also explores the impact of the European Recovery Program (ERP) on cotton exports and the role of the United States as a major cotton exporter. The author argues that, while cotton production has revived slowly in the postwar years, world consumption has exceeded world production by 2 to 3 million bales in each of the postwar years, resulting in a rapid disappearance of excessive stocks. This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the cotton industry's historical challenges and the factors shaping its future, making it an essential read for anyone interested in the global economy.
