Ce n'est pas un poète dont les beautés soient com munes; elles ne vieillissent point et ses formes hautsines n'ont cessé de séduire les esprits délicats. Chacun les loue à l'aveuglée mais elles échappent aux sens du commun, et c'est pour cela, à cause de ses fines saveurs, qu'il ne sera jamais permis de confondre Malherbe dans la légion de ces sages et pâles rimeurs qu'une réaction trop pliable a un moment mis hors la loi.
