Synopsis
There were three conflicting interests in Alex’s life; two men and her career as a dress designer. Terence offered her his love, but for the moment Alex was putting her career first and this was where Charles Viddell came in. ‘His reputation is bad his reputation with women, that is.’ Madame said to Alex about Charles. ‘But his business reputation is above reproach,’ and it was only in Charles’s business reputation, and the financial backing he could supply, that Alex was interested. She knew that he found her attractive, but she had no intention of getting emotionally involved with him just for mercenary reasons.
